For approximately six pounds (GB) a lap you can drive your car, bike, van, bus or what ever you like around the old Nurburgring Nordschleif as long as it is capable of at least 40 km/h and is fully road legal. This is the old 20 KM (13 mile) German Grand Prix track that the Formula 1 drivers refused to drive any more in the late 70"s as it was too dangerous to drive. It was the site of Nikki Lauda"s infamous accident. So, having been declared far too dangerous for proffessional, highly trained, career racing drivers, it was opened to the general public !! Anyway, there are bigger and better websites dealing exclusively with the "Ring", all I can say is that it is exceedingly good fun, though it has to be treated with the utmost respect as people have, and continue, to die here when it all goes wrong.
Websites. These are the best two that I
have come across so far and contain links to lots of other sites.
www.nuerburgring.de
- This is the official website with opening times.
www.nurburgring.de
- This is an extensive Nurburgring "Fan Project" site.
