2002/2003

Several modifications were added during the build up with the new chassis. These were:-

1) Steel straps were put across the bottom of the spaceframe to mount the seats on. This was as a result of a mishap I had that resulted in the car going into a ditch. The vertical loading of the chassis bottom impacting the side of the ditch resulted in a large number of rivets popping on the underside aluminium panels. The seat & myself nearly came out of the bottom of the car as the seats are mounted directly onto the aluminium floor panels.
2) A sturdier mount was made for the windscreen uprights in the form of an A frame each side of the scuttle joined with a tie bar.
3) The cooling water reservoir and battery mount were redesigned and incorporated together.
4) Whilst the engine was removed the old four speed (three functioning) Cortina gearbox was exchanged for a Sierra five speed box.
5) Fuel tank sender unit connector guard fabricated to prevent the boot box from brubbing on the connectors & damaging them.
6) All cable/pipe runs mounted using screws/P-clips (no ty-raps).
7) RAC Spec Rollover bar added.
8) Cam upgraded to Kent Cams FR33.
9) Had a go at relieving the exhaust ports based on advice from Dave Vizard's "Tuning the Ford SOHC" book.
